The Downtown is a city bike with an original and effective anti-theft solution – the handlebar acts as a lock – the bicycle is unusable in the event of theft. The Downtown is Basten Leijh's graduation project and got his studio off to a flying start. The bike was marketed by Giant and received worldwide acclaim. The Downtown is now seen as one of the icons of Dutch design.
